APEPTICO develops new peptide-based medicinal drugs for the clinical treatment of severe and chronic diseases. Their peptide molecules correspond to validated, pharmacodynamic active structures and domains of well-known proteins and biopharmaceuticals.

APEPTICO’s lead molecule, AP301, is a synthetic peptide that corresponds to a structural motif of the human Tumour Necrosis Factor alpha. AP301 activates lung fluid clearance and protects both endothelial and epithelial lung tissue from microbial toxin- and reactive oxygen species-induced hyper-permeability. It is being developed by APEPTICO in various pulmonary indications.
AP301-IH has been designed for the treatment of Pulmonary Oedema in Acute Lung Injury (ALI) and Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS).
AP301-IRI has being developed for the prevention and treatment of Ischemia Reperfusion Injury during lung transplantation. Ischemia Reperfusion Injury is a major cause for primary graft failure.
AP301-PN is being developed for the prevention and treatment of hyper-permeability upon microbial and/or viral infection of the lower respiratory tract.

| APEPTICO’s PEPBASE(TM) combines structural, functional and clinical data from relevant biopharmaceuticals and well-characterised proteins. Based on preclinical and clinical data, including adverse reactions, risk factors and contraindications to be circumvented, extracted from Medicines Agencies and clinical records and supported by structural, biochemical and physicochemical data, for each relevant protein a specific profile is established that links biological & functional properties with discrete structural elements. |
